Do you enjoy riding the trails here in Iowa? Would you love to see these trails be around for your children or grandchildren to enjoy? Would you like to see more new trails in Iowa or have you had trails in your area close? We at Back Country Horsemen of Iowa are here to help in all these areas!
So many Parks in Iowa have had their funding cut or lost funding all together. They have had to cut workers, cut back on scheduled maintenance of the trails, decide not to start new projects that their parks may need and, in the worse cases, close trails to the public.
We at the BCHIA work closely with the Land Managers in our State to help in whatever way they need. We offer the labor they so badly need and work hard to help supplement funding for some of those projects. We are "VOLUNTEERS" putting our labor and knowledge towards supporting the trails here in Iowa.
Within the parks here in Iowa we have helped by building water bars to divert water away from the trails, widened trails, added gravel to low wet spots, cleaned and cleared trails, added posts and trail markers so riders would not be lost, built a map dispensing box so riders could have maps while riding, built a mounting block for riders, built and installed new hitching rails, painted picnic tables, worked on boat docks. And helped add new trails in several parks we work. This is just a short list of the hard work that we have accomplished!

Your membership fee goes almost completely to the trails here in Iowa and the small percentage we send onto Back Country Horsemen of America and this money also goes towards the trails (in one way or another) all across America.
